Late January 2012, I have many, many cardinals in my back yard each evening. This video centers around one in particular, "White Cheeks", a partial albino which has shown up in my yard for the past three winters. Only on the coldest of days does she come, but at least I know she's survived the odds of almost four years.

Yeah, it IS a lot of cardinals. :) I have many generations at once; babies are brought to my feeders and they learn where to come for an easy meal and on those days when food is scarce due to snow or ice. On days when the snow is deep, I've counted s many as 60 male and female cardinals at once, in the yard. Add to that about 4 dozen gold finches and a zillion sparrows, (much to my dismay) and it's pretty crazy.
I rehab migratory songbirds as a hobby and passion, and I love birds almost more than anything....but cardinals have been a favorite for many years. These guys have become so accustomed to me that when I see them up in my redbud tree waiting for "feeding time" around 5 each evening, I toss them shelled peanuts one at a time....and they fly down to grab them off of the ground. It's a lot of fun...
