Hello, Vern, it's funny how one event can change how we think and feel about something, like your story of the songbird killers.  But, that's one reason why I posted this link, to spread awareness.  Thanks Vern.

@phoebe, Yes, it is horrible and I will never understand the minds of ignorant people.  I feel bad for them, it must be hard being such an idiot.

@Terry, thanks for the link, you';; also find several articles about the deaths of all five Cranes in the link I provided, as well as updates about the survivors of last years class, and other interesting things about the cranes and various programs.

that is just horrible and makes you think why we stinll have endangered species on this earth since the endangered species act was passed over 40 years ago.

There was a similar article in my local newspaper where I live in Valdosta Georgia about a few Whooping Cranes that were shot by hunters. They were released into the wild back in October of 2010 as part of a project and they found them dead in December 2010. Very sad. Here is the article if anyone is interested in reading it. - Feds investigate Whooping Crane Deaths

I just don't understand the mind-set of killing birds, or animals, just for the sake of killing, for sport, or whatever the reason. I mean, really, who in their right mind thinks that's fun? I hope the one that is an adult goes to jail, federal prison for that matter. I posted the link here, hoping that enough people would see it who live in those regions so they can keep an ear to the ground and report any one they think, or know had anything to do with those deaths.

This is sad news Laura. We can`t loose any more of these birds. I use to hunt when I was younger and I came across a similar situation but, these guys were shooting songbirds just for the fun of it and I have to tell you, it turned my stomach( I gave up hunting shortly after that ). Those guys got what was coming to them also. We have to do what we can to protect our feathered friends, as well as other wildlife. It sure seems like an uphill battle though.
