What a nice picture of this beautiful bird.  Did you make the orange feeder?  I have Hooded Orioles that use my hummy feeder.  Did you make your orange hanger?

Great close ups.  Thanks for the photos.  We have Eared Grebes at the Yolo Wildlife area now but they are just starting to get plumage.  We also had an Iceland Gull at the Davis sewer ponds over the weekend.

Just got to see this amazing shot!  I have heard of White Crane Kung Fu but did not know Hummers had their own version.

He is cute.  The program Nature, on Pbs, just had a program on raccoons in urban settings.  Early on morning on the way to work I encountered what looked like space aliens.  It was a mother raccoon with kits on the right and left…

Positivity

This is a great web site! After reading the morning paper and some of the blatantly ignorant and negative comments that accompany the stories I can check here for new bird pix. This is a great way to get out of my funky negative frame of mind after reading the news. If there is such a word as negativity then there must also be positivity. Thanks to everyone for the great photos and blogs!!!!

Absolutely spot on: something is happening. Those of us, like yourself, who have an intuitive attachment to other species "hear" it loud and clear. It's very frustrating to me that the "scientists" seem to choose to ignore our observations, but then "science" rejects "intuition" as anecdotal (and, even worse, pathological). One would think that the "proof" of ubiquitous consciousness (found in the laboratories of quantum physicists) might change that, and perhaps it will at some future point. What IS "happening"...it seems the earth is (Gaia, as named by Pierre de Chardin) is shape shifting.

You're right, migratory patterns are changing and birds are finding new habitats, they're being forced into it, much like the Polar Bears are and many other species. Last Fall I saw two very large, black birds flying in tandem and I know what they ARE but I wouldn't DARE even suggest it to anyone because these birds are only supposed to be seen in tropical areas! lol
