Val Thomas left a comment for Mitchelle Levone WrightSorry I took so long to reply, Val, but they were eastern. I would always see them on the ground in some open field. Now that I think about it, there would be Red-winged Blackbirds around when I saw the Meadow Larks. The Red-winged Blackbirds would hang out near the creeks where cattails grew and the Meadow Larks would hang out in the dry, short-grassed areas.
I remember the creeks getting polluted with what seemed to be factory waste that looked like oil and smelled really bad. The fields have all been built over. Those birds, I hope, moved on.
Take care and thanks for the childhood memories of when there were fields and clean water creeks.
I wish I could get a good shot of a Meadow Lark. That is your avatar, isn't it?
I used to see them all the time back in the seventies. They have left this area now.
