SLB replied to Katie Boord's discussion Good Camera for BirdingWe saw two anhingas on our trip to Pasadena Lake in St. Petersburg. I took a photo when I first saw the bird. It's wings were down and it was gazing at the lake. When the anhinga noticed me, it seemed to keep me in its sights by looking at me from the corner of its eye. It stretched its head from left to right. Then, the anhinga stretched its wings, puffed up its gullet and make a loud sound. Dear SLB,
Thanks for letting me join your group this is the first group I've ever been in so I'm really excited!
Thank you for inviting me in. I do enjoy participating. However I lost my best friend yesterday. His name was Shadow. He followed me everywhere and never left my side. I will miss him and I am going to take a little break for now. I'll be back.
Thanks again.

We live on a canal off the St. Lucie River. We have gators, manatee, otter and the funnest ducks on earth! Flocks of Black-bellied Whistlers come in twice a day for cracked corn. Yesterday there was one fulvous whistling duck among them. We have large migrating sandhills here now and they are disruptive as can be! They shake the birdfeeders to get the seed out - they chase the squirrels and push the ducks away from the corn. A month ago we saw one anhinga on a dock and another one approched and off went a fight in the water between the two. I guess they like being alone and territorial. Anyway - we love birds and I wish I could stay home all day and watch the backyard - have a great day everyone!
Thank you for the invite..look forward to being part of the group.
