Thanks Da Lo. The Forster's Tern was a lifer for me. I've seen least sandpipers before at the Circle B but never so close as the ones in Haines City today. They are so small! Good all round birding day. I finally got to see robins!! There…

Shore birds I have a terrible time IDing. I think the first one is a Forster's Tern but the other one I have no clue. It was very small... maybe 5 or 6 inches. I'm leaning towards a least sandpiper. Any thoughts on either of these is…

Linda I found this on the Stokes Blog, should help pinpoint it for you: http://stokesbirdingblog.blogspot.com/2009/01/green-morph-pine-siskin.html I see yellow in the undertail coverts, so I would believe it to be a green morph Pine Siskin. Lovly…

Can someone help me with this one- I believe this is a "green morph" Pine Siskin but I am not 100% sure.  This Siskin is very yellow though the photos do not show how yellow this bird is.

Never Expected To See An Eagle

Today my husband and I were coming home from Guntersville, Alabama.

We searched today for any kind of birds we could find. We weren't very successful in finding many different varieties but wouldn't you know that as soon as I put my camera in my backpack and decided to call it quits that it wasn't 5 minutes later that we spotted an eagle. He was trying his best to catch a Coot but was not successful. Every time he dove down, the Coot went under the water.

I…

American Kestrel - FINALLY!

It's been so long ago that I don't even remember anymore where I spotted my first American Kestrel. It was probably on flickr or in one of my numerous birding books. Now, a few years later, I've seen many a Kestrel, but trying to get a photo of them is like trying to get a photo of Bigfoot as far as I'm concerned.

I did manage to get a few pictures of one a couple of years ago in the northeast Georgia mountains, but in my haste to get out of the car, I forgot to check my…

Hi, Rachel..

Long time no type.. It's me across the state from you over here in Pickens County (Talking Rock, Jasper area).. How is your birding going..?

Mine is *QUIET* this year.. Eerie, very eerie.. Don't know if the freak snow storm the North got a while back is playing a part by changing migratory patterns, or if it's something more local here.. Figured I'd pop in and ask you because over the past year, your reported sightings have very much mirrored mine in both species and timing..

Thanks..! :)
