Linda Long commented on Linda Long's photo With cameras and binoculars ready, the crowd eagerly waited for the superstar to arrive. Hushed whispers passed through the crowd as the anticipation and excitement grew with the increasing bird population at the feeders. This is the first blog I have ever tried to write, I hope my first attempt goes well. I felt compelled to somehow thank my family for what they recently did for me. So, here it goes. I have several hummingbird feeders placed around my home and have 3 feeding stations for the other birds. It takes devotion to keep all the feeders clean and filled. I also put fresh water out daily for the birds which is kind of funny since I live in Oregon (rain, rain and more rain).
Let…

Vicki Miller said… Hi Again,
I clicked on "checklist" and found it was a female!! It has to be your bird.
I did a search for this guy's name in Alaska and found he has a Flickr account. If you have an account there, you could send him an email through Flickr and tell him you have photos of your bird and you'd be interested in seeing any photo he had taken. If you don't have an account on Flickr, I can do it for you if you like. I think this is exciting and he'd be glad to know you had seen one in your state.

Did you notice on ebird rarities that a Brambling was spotted on St. Paul Island in Aleutians West, Alaska?
I'm assuming that yours has left-wonder if that bird might be yours? do you recall the last date you saw yours?
Keep on taking those great photos-I'm way behind in checking out the photos.
Vicki
Linda, thanks for the nice comment on my Common Loon photograph!
:)
We have tons of swallows show up here now that they've discovred my hens. Rough-winged, Violet-green, and i'm having a major brain fart now as to what the other one was.... anyways when my hens molt i save the white and lighter colored feathers, when the swallows show up, my kids (3,7) and i sit in the middle of our driveway and throw the feathers in the air and watch the swallows swoop down and grab them. they even land on the ground a few feet away and look at us and fly off with a huge feather. i look forward to it every spring. my husband gets annoyed when dinner isn't cook but he knows where to find me!
Thank you for the nice comments Linda.
