I guess they get tired of being harassed by photographers.  Some of the looks I got from the scaups are really special!

We thank you very much, Gordon.  The duck gets most of the credit for swimming close enough to me.

I found here in Poland such birds in winter coats – we have much snow here as well as great frost :)
Love,
Krystyna

Thanks, Larry. I've never seen the Discover Life site before. Nice photos, too! I'll definitely visit there again.

Larry,

You've got my curiosity up now.  Our camera club goes to FL in February around the Titusville area.  We enjoy shooting birds at Merritt Island NWR and at the Vierra Wetlands.  Where do you like to go in Florida?  Also two of my buddies are taking the S. Texas trip with me in May and we will be staying at the Santa Clara Ranch near McAllen.  They have blinds set up there to shoot birds at watering holes.  Where will you be going in Texas?

Larry, without a doubt the best place to see warblers and vireos in Georgia is during spring migration (April) and the best place to see a wide assortment of them in one place is Kennesaw Mountain.  Kennesaw is just to the north of Atlanta in Marrieta.  Since an important Civil War battle took place there, it is a national monument.  Daily at 0700 birders gather in the parking lot at the base of the mountain and walk the paved road to bird watch during migration. I would strongly urge you to consider Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park during spring migration.  Athens is only an hour to the east.  I hope this helps.

Thanks for your kind words Larry.  You have quite an assortment of bird photos on your page; many of which I have not seen but hope to some day.  By living on the west coast you have the opportunity to see different species than we have here in Georgia.
