Jenny Jones commented on Jill R.'s group Oregon BirdersIt is so warm here its ridiculous. It might as well be spring. i've even seen bulbs thinking about popping up. The birds are going to be terribly confused when/if we get a big snowstorm late in the spring, last year it was snowy/rainy bad weather until the middle of June......i wish we weren't sick all the time so i could start cleaning up my flower beds and my herb garden

So I found this site while looking up info for our Bird Club Newsletter for the Great Backyard Bird Count. It looked like fun to be with like minded people. I got interested in birding when we bought our house and the previous owner left bird feeders. Being a stay at home mom, I thought it would be fun. Now my daughter and I are both members of the Grant Co. Bird Club and love it!

Brandon Green said… Hi, Jill. Sorry to get to your request so late (work has been busy lately). Believe it or not, I've actually been to John Day. It looks like a great place to enjoy nature.
Donna Hooker said… JILL, DEANNA THURSTON AND I ARE FRIENDS. WE LIVE JUST OUT ABOUT 25 MILES FROM THEM. DONNA
Alexandra Hudson said… Hi Jill! ^.^ Thanks for the friend request I hope to chat with you soon :)
She is a Buff Orpington, her name is Buffy and she is the loudest of all my girls. A good bug eater though and also a healthy layer. : )
Jenny Jones said… Portland is great for birds, but so is eastern OR!
We are visiting in the Bay area of CA. Saw goldfinches and junkos at a suet feeder, Mallards, American Cootes, and a female Wigeon at Foothills Park, and crows and seagulls around town.
Deana Thurston said… She is actually the daughter of some friends. The peacock is one they raised. They used to raise cranes & wood rails too. They had a very tame Lesser Sand Hill that would dance with you. She was awesome! She flew off one day when a flock of sand hills came over their house and did not return. I see a friend of mine is a friend of yours. Donna Hooker. She is an awesome artist and has painted one of our wood ducks on leaves.
