"Hey Robert, I know what you mean about lugging all the gear around.  I am hoping Nikon comes out with an updated version of the 80-400mm.  Rumor is they have filed a patent for that in addition to a 100-400mm.  I hear so many good…"

"Yes, I have been a little disappointed in the speed of the autofocus, but I read that in the reviews before buying it.  I wanted a zoom simply because it would be more versatile.  Lugging a big old lens around isn't very useful when…"

"Hi Robert, I originally used the D80 which I still have, but got the D300 a few months ago which I love.  For bird photography I currently use the AF-S Nikkor 300mm F/4D IF-ED with the TC-14E II Teleconverter.  I love the…"

"I now have two sets.  I have a Nikon D7000 which I usually pair with an 80 - 400 zoom for most work on bird photography.  When I am kayaking I use the old D80 and 70 -300 zoom.  I haven't quite worked up the nerve to take the new…"

Hi Jacqueline,  I just went back to your web site and did a new tour.  Just some fabulous work there!!!  Too many great shots to comment on, but I love the stilt chick and the one of the two flying.  I have fond memories of my first black-necked stilt sighting and the effort it took to get a decent shot of them in SF Bay.  The American Goldfinch was just stunning!  Keep up the great work and I'll keep tuning in to whats new.

I only went to a few places when I was in San Carlos.  I wasn't there on weekends so I had to make due with the sun light after work.  I went to Half Moon Bay and had a nice sun set, but not many birds.  I also went to Marsh Road park which is just south of San Carlos on the bay.  That where I got my Stilt shot.  I also got a water swirl shot which won a second place in a photo contest I entered earlier in the year.  It got Best in Show for Photography also.  It is in my FLickr collection where I am steffro1.  I've had about 10 shots on The Nature Conservancy shot of the day over the last two years.  You might try adding the tag for that when you post on Flickr.  It is DailyNature-TNC11.  I looked at the 500 and 600 mm Nikor lenses and that's not happening! ($$$$$).  Maybe eventually I'll get a Sigma or Tamron, I have talked to people who have them and are happy.

Yes, I have been a little disappointed in the speed of the autofocus, but I read that in the reviews before buying it.  I wanted a zoom simply because it would be more versatile.  Lugging a big old lens around isn't very useful when you find a subject that is close.  My problem is now carrying all the gear around.  The back pack is getting awful heavy (plus the tripod) and arranging everything leads to compromises of which lens to leave attached.  I'm surprised after looking at your web site you haven't been doing this that long.  You are certainly seem to be on a fast track!  Keep up the great work!  If you aren't going to post on WLB let me know when you add new stuff to your site!  ;o)
