Comment by Boldylocks on October 16, 2011 at 5:20am awesome!! yes, crows are one of my favorite birds - yet I love them all.
They have also been known to drop off shiny items as gifts at areas where they commonly see humans who feed them , or who are just nice to them. They recognize and can differentiate humans from other humans, and also will intentionally poop on property and cars of those humans who they recognize as being nasty toward them ...lol!
I've practically had a conversation with one crow that visits our workplace.. He/she and their crow gang fly by once in a while. I wave pizza crusts in the air at him as he watches me from the telephone pole along the roadside.
When I come out of the building later around noon-time. - he recognizes me, and perches right on the roof where I sit to eat lunch. I toss him my pizza crusts , and it makes me happy to see him fly down toward the lawn area to gobble them up :-)
When I don't see him or the other crows, I will just toss any crusts or snacks on the lawn-- and they are all gone by the time I get out of work.

Comment by Boldylocks on August 24, 2011 at 5:57pm Last Summer, Me & my Family had gotten back from the zoo, my dad went in our backyard to turn the inground pool filter on. When I walked inside, I heard him yell there were ducklings & their mom swimming in the pool! We rushed outside to see them. I tried to get them out of the pool, but they kept on diving deeper! As we tried, the mother flew away! We were so nervous on what to do with them. We decided to set them free. They seemed to love our backyard! Sadly, we found one dead in the scimmer basket. Now & ever since, Ive been observing ducks more when I go birding!

Comment by Boldylocks on February 23, 2011 at 7:31pm One cute experience I had last Summer still stays with me; Underneath our porch we have a shelf lined with clay pots, and for several years now, one robin likes to build her nest on that shelf nestled between the clay pots.
After some weeks, the eggs hatched, and we would take a peek occasionally at the little robin babies nestled in their nest. Their eyes were closed shut and thier mouths wide open, waiting for their mother who was warily watching us from our back yard with a worm in her mouth.
One week I took one last peek and noticed that the babies were practically ready to fly on their own., and this time their eyes were wide open watching me-- The cutest thing that still makes me chuckle, is how all three of them were so curious of me--turning thier heads wherever I moved in that area and watching me so curiously. It was almost like they were thinking, "who is that animal?" lol.
The next time I went under the porch to see them, the nest was empty- the babies left their nest. I'm looking forward to seeing another nest again this coming Summer :-)
