In this group, you can ask ID questions, share stories, share your favorite birds, ask on how to attract birds (or how to get rid of some), and almost any other subject about birding you want to ask. BUT, it has to be about the season you are in now.

I've had a bluebird house for 2 years now. I don't have bluebirds in the area so it was being used by tree swallows. Then, before the baby tree swallows even got feathers, house sparrows went in and…Continue

My favorite season is Winter because I love going to feeder watching the sparrows and Juncos eating seeds. And that's when the Waterfowl come down from the Boreal Forest, for example the Goldeneyes…Continue

Comment by Joshua LaDuke on Monday We just had a yellow warbler make a nest in some honeysuckle bushes next to our yard. Now I just need to make moving water.
Comment by Diane Garlick on April 5, 2012 at 1:26am Congrats, Joshua! Many of those would be lifers for me as well...
Comment by Joshua LaDuke on April 3, 2012 at 11:14am Yesterday I went to a waste water plant/nature preserve in Muskegon, MI, and saw so many lifers! These are the lifers I saw there:
Common loon
Gadwall
American widgeon
Northern shovler
Greater scaup
Lesser scaup
Bufflehead
Horned grebe
Horned lark
Upland sandpiper
Comment by Diane Garlick on March 25, 2012 at 9:25pm Here in SW MI I saw my first bluebird on March 6th, and my first phoebe today.
Comment by Joshua LaDuke on March 25, 2012 at 6:15pm I've been going to some nature preserves and I'm seeing a lot of birds that I usually don't see because of migration. Including about 4 yellow-rumped warblers, bluebirds in March, flycatchers, and even a Carolina wren! Those are really uncommon her where I live in Michigan.
Comment by Victor Austin on March 25, 2012 at 5:33pm Now I can't wait for warbler migration.

Comment by Diane Garlick on August 23, 2011 at 2:03am Spring & fall migrations are my favorite times, then nesting/fledgling season and then winter feeder aggregations. So pretty much all the time... :D
We seem to be really in the doldrums now, though. Except for the family dynamics that still present themselves at the feeders, I'm not seeing much. Unfortunately that has a lot to do with the horrific hordes of mosquitoes this exceptionally wet, hot, summer has brought, combined with my wussiness about braving them. Sigh!
